Area Police
Around 50 cars have been covered with what seems to be human bodily fluid in the Germany's city of Hanau close to Frankfurt, police confirm police.
Vehicles, exterior walls and postboxes were defaced, occasionally with prohibited symbols, they stated in a statement.
Law enforcement report they were contacted late on Wednesday evening, when a individual discovered that a vehicle in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been marked with a reddish liquid.
The substance had been drawn in the shape of a banned symbol, they reported.
Officers then discovered many other marked vehicles and house walls in the surrounding area.
Nazi symbols are banned in Germany under laws banning the visible presentation of Nazi-era symbols.
Police say early analysis suggest the fluid was probably human blood.
"Currently there is no clue as to its source; authorities are presently not informed of any harm in relation with the incident," they added.
Municipal representatives said they were working "to resolve the mystery" and have asked to the community for tips.
A senior official stated the vandalism made him speechless and had to be solved quickly.
"This act hits the core of Hanau and reawakens the wounds of the far-right attack five years ago," he posted on online, mentioning the killing of nine victims by a gunman focusing on individuals of migrant background in five years prior.
